Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has put an end to all rumours about the possibility of a sequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

According to an interview with Empire magazine, Kennedy said that the movie is truly a standalone project and there will not be a sequel.

Director Gareth Edwards clarified that technically Star Wars: A New Hope is the sequel to Rogue One. And if there is to be a sequel to the movie starring Felicity Jones, it would have to be directed by George Lucas.

So, the chronological order for Star Wars Universe movies would be,

1. Star Wars: Episode I - Phantom Menace
2. Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
3. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
4. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
(and standalone Han Solo movie)
5. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
6. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
7. Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
8. Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens
9. Star Wars: Episode VIII

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will release on December 16.
