Ever had oodles of free time on your hands but no idea what to do with it? Need some on-the-go entertainment on your way to work? Or perhaps you’d like a quick laugh before you succumb to the crushing defeat that is the monotony of this world? (If you said yes to that last one, you might need a wee bit more professional help than this article can provide!) Look no further.
YouTube might be the easiest choice for the dillydallyer, the procrastination pad, the loiter lounge, the time-warping black hole of endlessly looping entertainment. And yet, the sheer enormity of content available can occasionally leave you stumped for choice. So here are a few channels for the Hollywood buff to tackle, guaranteed to kick you right in the funny bone (hard) and keep you coming back for more.
How It Should Have Ended (HISHE)
Adorable animation and voice acting aside, HISHE is on this list for its hilarious parodies of major Hollywood movies. Able to out-think plot holes in said movies and cut to the quick, a typical HISHE video ends a two-three hour long movie (or in some cases, seven-movie series) in under five minutes. Jaw-achingly funny scriptwriting, spot on voice acting, and the ability to tickle movie buffs and validate movie “nerd” gripes at the same time should land this channel squarely in your subscription list.
Five minute Harry Potter wrap anyone?
On a side note, Super Cafe, another comedy series from the same channel is also a hoot. Batman and Superman, and occasionally a few other metahumans, discuss everyday super issues over a cup of coffee. If our favourite comic book heroes ever got a 90’s sitcom set in present day, this would be it.

Everything Wrong With...
When a film critic and the cranky, sarcastic old prude in all of us have a love child, what you get is the 'Everything Wrong With' series. From the Cinema Sins channel, these videos will take the movies you love and hate alike, and trash them equally. “No movie is without sin,” is their tagline, and boy do they live that line. Each video will take you through the entire movie, calling out and counting every clichéd script line, continuity error and downright stupid idea it might have. And it’s so sadistic about the process you just can’t stop watching. Each video also runs a timer of how long it takes to point out all the flaws. If that timer crosses five minutes, that video is just begging to be watched.
Like so. Everything Wrong With Twilight trashes Kirsten Stewart because.... well, why not?
Honest Trailers
If ever there was a need for Honest Trailers, it was before I paid money to watch that God-awful Dragonball Evolution movie in a theatre. But alas Honest Trailers has become what it is only after the movie in question released. However, it is by far one of the funniest review channels on YouTube today. Brought to you by the guys at Screen Junkies, Honest Trailers is exactly what it calls itself. Unlike normal trailers that give you a glittery peephole view of the movie to come, each video here is a spoof trailer, where you get all the spoilers, and all the bad sequences up front. Horrible script writing? It’s there. Lame action sequences? It’s there. Wooden actors? You bet it’s there. And all this, backed by the manliest, knee-weakening, trance inducing, lumberjack of a voice – Jon Bailey. And if you’re a fan of their channel, you can comment below the latest video if there’s a movie you want the Screen Junkies to take apart. And you can also comment a silly or cool phrase you want said in the manly voice. You don’t know comedy until you’ve heard a voice that could belong to Batman saying, “Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.” Pure Gold.
