'India singing', a mixture of music, action and dance by superstar Mohanlal's Lalisom troupe and 'War Cry', a special theme play, will be the main attractions of the 35th National Games' opening ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram.

The line-up will include 101 percussion artists, led by legendary 'chenda' maestro Mattannur Shankaran Kutty, State Sports Minister Thiruvanchroor Radhakrishnan said. He said that all arrangements are in place for the mega event, being held in Kerala after a 28-year gap.

"The theme of Lalisom will be a musical journey of Indian cinema and retrospect of masters of Indian cinema," Mohanlal has said.

Hariharan, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Karthik, M G Sreekumar and Sujatha are some of the prominent singers who would participate in the event, the actor said. The 'War Cry' would be a visual treat and is a tribute to freedom fighters, Mohanlal said. It would focus on war scenes based on the real life of Kunjali Marakkar from Kerala, the legendary maritime warrior who fought against the Portuguese.

Radhakrishnan said a 40-minute-long demo of the unique art forms of Kerala would also be held as part of the programme. Cricket icon and Games' goodwill ambassador Sachin Tendulkar will hand over the Torch to legendary sprinter P T Usha and ace athlete Anju Bobby George. The event will be held in seven districts between January 31 and February 14.

Union Minister for Urban and Parliamentary Affairs Venkaiah Naidu will declare the Games open at the newly-built Greenfield Staidum at nearby Kariyavattom. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal are among the dignitaries who will participate in the opening ceremony.
