National Film Development Corporation's online patriotic film festival kicks off August 7

The Independence Day Film Festival 2020 will be showcased on the website www.cinemasofindia.com free of cost and will feature critically acclaimed movies from various Indian languages.

Just a week before Independence Day 2020, The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has organised an online patriotic film festival, which will showcase Independence Day themed patriotic movies from August 7.

The festival, as part of Independence Day Celebrations 2020 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will begin August 7 and will run till August 21. The festival aims to showcase Indian history that marks the bravery of freedom fighters and "aims to create a festive and patriotic mood among Indians across the globe", it read in a statement. 

The patriotic films will be showcased on the website www.cinemasofindia.com free of cost and will feature critically acclaimed movies from various Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati and Malayalam. 

In addition to various other films, the festival, for the first time, will make the film Gandhi, made in 1982 by Sir Richard Attenborough accessible to audiences. Sir Richard Attenborough’s 1982 classic “Gandhi” will be made accessible and can be enjoyed by people with vision and hearing impairment.

The selection of films showcases a collection of films from the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), National Film Archive of India (NFAI), Children's Film Society India (CFSI), and Films Division.

Some of the films that will be part of the Independence Day Film Festival 2020 are The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, Tango Charlie, Khakhee, Life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Abhi Kal Hi Ki Baat Hai (Not So Long Ago), Chota Sipahi (The Little Soldier), Tamil film Veera Pandiya Kattabomman, Malayalam film Uttarayanam, Sardar Patel: A Nation Stands United and many others.
