Nargis Fakhri to play Sangeeta Bijlani

After much back and forth, it can now be confirmed that Nargis Fakhri has been signed on to play Sangeeta Bijlani in the biopic on the life of cricketer Mohd Azharuddin. The Anthony D'Souza film has Emraan Hashmi playing Azhar and Prachi Desai playing the cricketer's first wife.

Our sources reveal that the actress recently signed on the dotted line and that the makers thought she'd be perfect to play the model-turned-actress. "It is a glamorous role as Sangeeta is known for her vivacious personality and her Bollywood connections. They needed someone who was a model to play the role. Talks were also on with Jacqueline Fernandez, but nothing materialized of that because of unavailability of dates. In fact, Ekta had even thought of asking Sangeeta to play herself, but they needed a younger actress to look the part."
