Nandish Sandhu who was last seen in Encounter is all set to enter Beintehaa as a lawyer Rehan. And no, it's not a cameo. This will be his first big role after Phir Subah Hogi. In the last one year, Nandish was seen in the reality show Welcome Baazi Mehmaan Nawaazi Ki and the episodic Encounter. Says Nandish, "It was not as if I was staying away from daily soaps, but I was looking for a show that did not have anything to do with kitchen politics. My last show, Phir Subah Hogi was rural-based and after a point became all about kitchen politics and lost track of the message the serial wanted to convey. Beintehaa, on the other hand, is a contemporary show and has stuck to the subject it started with." Rehan will be hired by Aaliya (Preetika Rao) to fight the case of her friend Zubair (Mohit Malhotra) who is accused of murder and is in jail.

About the character, Nandish says he liked the fact that Rehan is strong and mature. "He is not a lover boy. He is a righteous lawyer like his father. Though his father stood for what is right, he could never win a case, but Rehan has not lost a single case because the way he functions is completely different from that of his father," says Nandish. Incidentally, he will also be shown to be a father of two kids. Didn't he have any apprehensions playing one? "The kids are very small. I have issues with playing a father to 15-16-year-old because that means I will be 45. Here the kids are hardly 4-5-year-old and Rehan is only 30. He had married young," says the actor.

Ask him if the break from dailies has done him good and Nandish says he used the time to travel, do some wildlife photography (he is an avid photographer) and got himself into shape. "I lost a lot of weight and met a lot of people for films. I also set up a small restaurant along with a friend. When things are not working out the way you want, it's better to channelise your energies in a correct manner. Now I am ready for a comeback," he smiles.

Does that mean his plan of getting back with estranged wife Rashami Desai is also on track? "I never said I am getting back, people asked me if I will be happy getting back with her and I said yes. After all, she is my wife," he quips.
