Nagesh Kukunoor's 'Dhanak' bags honour at Berlin Film Fest

Filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor's 'Dhanak' has been honoured with The Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus International Jury for the best feature-length film at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. It was the only Indian feature selected in the festival was competing in the Generation Kplus category against films selected from across the world.

Filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor's 'Dhanak' has been honoured with The Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus International Jury for the best feature-length film at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. It was the only Indian feature selected in the festival was competing in the Generation Kplus category against films selected from across the world.

The film is co-produced by Manish Mundra, Nagesh Kukunoor and Elahe Hiptoola.Icompeting in the Generation Kplus category against films selected from across the world.

“The film received an overwhelming response at Berlinale. All the screenings of the film saw a fully packed house and cheering audience. The premiere screening, which was held at massive theatre of 1200 seats was sold out. At every screening, almost everyone stayed back for the Q&A and then mobbed the director outside the theatre,” says Manish Mundra.

The movie, which premiered at the festival, also received a special mention from Kids Jury at the festival. "We win the Grand Prix for Best Feature film in Generation Kplus at @berlinale!," the film's official twitter page read.

Kukunoor added, "We also took special mention with the children's jury."

'Dhanak' revolves around the relationship between a 10-year old girl Pari and Chotu, her 8-year old brother who live in a picturesque village. The film stars Hetal Gada and Krrish Chhabria.
