While the film industry and fans are still shocked at the death of talented South Indian actor Kalabhavan Mani, medical reports have emerged that show new evidence. The chemical examination of his viscera samples have revealed the presence of pest control substance Chlorpyrifos reports The New Indian Express. Chlorpyrifos is an insecticide that is used on farms and is toxic.

The police have registered a case and taken into custody Mani’s three close aides in connection with the investigation. The police also found spurious liquor at the actor’s farm house at Chalakkudy.

The 45-year-old actor and folk singer died on March 6 at a private hospital. The presence of methyl alcohol in his blood raised suspicions. Dr. Sumesh who is the Assistant Professor at the Alapuzha Medical College was the first one to respond to Mani’s manager Joby’s distress call on March 5 when the actor collapsed. Dr Sumesh has told the media that Mani vomited blood five times before he made it to the hospital and was admitted.

The actor's brother Ramakrishnan told the daily that they suspected foul play in his death. He was quoted as saying that he suspected all those who had kept Mani company the day before he died. He also alleged that those who kept him company had destroyed evidence. He stated that when his aides heard about the methyl alcohol in the blood, they returned to the farm house and cleaned it.

Ramakrishnan added that Mani would never commit suicide and that it was his friends who made him consume liquor. The postmortem indicated an advanced stage of cirrhosis. Mani's brother added that when they questioned his aides as to what liquor they had consumed, they did not answer.

Local residents have informed the police that spurious liquor used to be delivered at Mani's farmhouse when he had guests over.
