Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee is the dream couturier for many brides-to-be but he believes his bridal wear will best suit on Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. The 41-year-old, Kolkata-based designer wears by Indian tradition and feels that the Piku actress can carry off Indian stuff well. "Deepika would make a perfect Sabyasachi bride because she has a striking Indian face, a wonderful Indian body and wears a lot of my traditional Indian clothes beautifully. What I like about her is that she is not someone who only likes to wear polyester, net or clingy clothes. She can also wear a Kanjivaram or Banarasi and still look good. I like the fact that Deepika brings out a lot of cultural context in her clothing. She sometimes wear fabrics like Matka which other actresses won't even wear and I find that fascinating," Sabyasachi told PTI.

The designer, who showcases his wedding collection at the Vogue Wedding Show here, feels actor Ranveer Singh has panache to carry off his heavily embroidered men's wear line. "I may be saying it as a cliche, but honestly it would be Ranveer Singh because I just love him. He is so easy about whatever he likes to do and that's very charming about him."

Sabyasachi is a designer of modern times but prefers to stay traditional and honest to the roots on occasions like weddings. He defines his bride as the one who has Indian sensibilities and likes to look her traditional best on the special day. "My bride is somebody who likes being Indian, likes looking beautiful but in Indian context, somebody who likes handicrafts and is into art and culture and is very much an own person. Fashion may come and go but tradition will always remain. If you are being traditional Indian bride, your wedding pictures will be relevant for rest of your life."

Sabyasachi, who is mainly known for his bridal couture, finds it funny that people think he is not capable of doing anything else. "In the first three-four years of my career I never did bridal, so all the burn embroidery I did and the thread work I used was for ready-to-wear market. We still have many other lines in our store apart from bridal, but everybody is more interested in bridal as it is the only form of couture in the country. People think that is all I am capable of," he said.

However, he intentionally does not plan to advertise it as his ready-to-wear collection enjoys a fixed clientele. "Bridal wear is the main part of business financially that is why we advertise it but rest of the clothes are casual and we have steady clients for it," he added.

Sabyasachi, who forayed into films with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black and went on to design costumes for films like Guzaarish, Babul, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, English Vinglish, has no plans to do any Bollywood movie as of now. "I am not planning to take up any Bollywood project as it takes too much of time. I have a very large business and it's growing and I don't have time for films. Once my business is more settled I might think of it, but right now I am not doing it."
