After a month of receiving a complaint accusing Alok Nath of rape, the Mumbai police on Wednesday, has registered an FIR under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the actor.

The complaint was filed by a TV writer-producer, who during the ongoing #MeToo movement accused Alok Nath of of rape, sexual harassment and getting her sacked when she complained about the wrong done to her.

The victim alleged that she was drugged and raped by the actor 19 years ago when they were working together in on a TV show.

The victim had first made the allegations against the actor on Facebook on October 8, where she claimed that her drink was spiked by Nath at his house during a party.

In her long post she further said that when she left his house feeling uneasy, he had offered to drop her home in his car, but instead took her to another location where he allegedly raped her.

The woman had also earlier alleged that the actor had all her shows shut down, leading to the closure of her production company.

“The case was filed under under section 376 of IPC (rape),” Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Sharma said.

After the writer-producer accused Nath for her ordeal, the actor's wife Ashu Singh had filed a civil defamation suit against the victim on her husband’s behalf.

This was, however, dismissed by the Bombay High Court which found that neither of them could claim to have been defamed by the Facebook post.
