Bollywood begins the year with a bang. There are 10 movies in the pipeline. While some are typical masala movies, there are also some out-of-the-box films. Be it an action, romance, horror, comedy or drama, there's a bit of everything on offer this month. However, the Bollywood battle between these four films will make for interesting viewing. Here's what to expect and what's at stake...

January 9
Tevar
Who
: Arjun Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Manoj Bajpayee
What: The movie is a remake of Telugu film Okkadu. Arjun decides to help Sonakshi, who is being harassed by a spurned lover, who's a goon. The two fall in love while on the run.
What to expect: The movie boasts of a fresh pair and the janta will definitely be keen to see them together. The trailer of the movie generated a lot of buzz as did the Superman number, which was dedicated to Salman Khan. The movie is Arjun's first under his home banner and so he will want it to work big time. Sona, too, has the disastrous Action Jackson behind her. Tevar has been directed by Amit Sharma, who directed the famous Google ad that showed the bonding between two friends separated by Partition. What works for the movie is that it's the first mainstream movie to release after PK, which released on December 9. It also gets a good run of two weeks till the next Bollywood biggie releases.

January 23
Baby
Who
: Akshay Kumar, Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu, Madhurima Tuli
What to expect: Baby is an upcoming Indian espionage action thriller film directed by Neeraj Pandey.
What to expect: The trailer promises an interesting movie in the offing. Neeraj Pandey's last two movies A Wednesday and Special 26 were highly acclaimed, and this one seems thought-provoking. The trailer provided a brief glimpse of the action sequences and hard-hitting dialogue in the film. This will be Akshay's action movie after comic capers like Entertainment and The Shaukeens. The actor returns to a genre that he is known for. The movie clashes with Dolly Ki Doli at the box office and that may affect its business.

Dolly Ki Doli
Who
: Sonam Kapoor, Pulkit Samrat, Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma
What: Sonam plays Dolly, who is a con artist. She gets men to fall in love with her and then runs away with the money on the wedding night.
What to expect: Sonam's last movie Khoobsurat did very well at the box office. While Dolly Ki Doli clashes with Akshay's Baby, Khoobsurat and Daawat-e-Ishq released on the same day. There is a chance that the release of Baby may affect DKD's business at the box office, but the movie belongs to a completely different genre and is likely to work with the college-going crowd and younger audience. If this movie works at the box office, it will definitely add more power to Sonam's star status, which got a major boost after Raanjhanaa and Khoobsurat.

Hawaizaada
Who
: Ayushmann Khurrana, Pallavi Sharda, Mithun Chakraborty
What: The film is based on the life of scientist Shivkar Bapuji Talpade who is known as the first flying machine inventor and lived during the end of 19th century.
What to expect: The trailer of the movie released in December, which seems to be a bit late, while the promotional activities are yet to even kick off. While the premise of the movie seems interesting, Ayushmann's last outing - Bewakoofiyaan – failed to create any buzz at the box office. Apart from Ayushmann, the movie is also a make-or-break deal for directer Vibhu Puri, who makes his Bollywood debut with this movie.
