Right from its premiere, the Randeep Hooda and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Sarbjit has been garnering a lot of attention, putting both the leads in the limelight. So after hearing a lot of puffery about Omung Kumar's recent directorial venture, I went to watch it and find out what the hubbub was actually about. What I realised by the end of the movie left me shell shocked.

The reason was Richa Chadha's performance in the movie. What disturbed me most was how can such a power-packed performance go potentially unnoticed? While Randeep has been showered with all the deserved love and affection for his portrayal of Sarabjit Singh and Aishwarya has got a mixed response for her role of Dalbir Singh, not a word has been said about the commendable portrayal of Sukh (Sarabjit's wife) in the movie. This proves that the Masaan actress remains one of the most underrated actresses of the recent times. Her character in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, met with the same fate while Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were lauded for their performances.

This is not the first time that a brilliant performance has gone unnoticed. Here are some other actors who are highly underrated in Bollywood:

Vijay Raaz

Best remembered for his role of Ganesh and 'Kauvaa Biryani' gig in the Abhishek Bachchan-Bhumika Chawla starrer movie Run, this amazing actor has never failed to make our jaws drop. Whether he is a fake director in Welcome, a gangster in Delhi Belly or a man trying to die in No Problem, Vijay has always delivered amazing performances. It's sad that such a talented actor has been limited to comic roles only.

Swara Bhaskar

Nominated at the Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Tanu Weds Manu, Swara Bhaskar recently stunned everyone by her performance in Ashwini Iyer Tiwari's Nil Battey Sannata. Her previous performances in Raanjhanaa and Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo also went unnoticed by the masses.

Rajkummar Rao

Making his B-Town debut with an unconventional film like Love Sex Aur Dhokha, the Citylights actor got some recognition from the 2013 movie Kai Po Che, though Sushant Singh Rajput bagged the limelights for the same. His portrayal of Deepu, the journalist, in the highly appreciated movie Aligarh is a treat to watch.

Deepak Dobriyal

Better known as Pappi Ji from the Tanu Weds Manu series, the Not A Love Story actor has experimented a lot with his characters and has given us some memorable performances like Rajender Bhati in Gulaal and Genda in Dabangg 2

Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub

Best known for playing Muraari, Dhanush's best friend in Raanjhaana, the actor's performance as Arun 'Chintu' Kumar Singh in Tanu Weds Manu Returns went completely unnoticed. He had given commendable performances earlier in movies like No One Killed Jessica and Shahid. He will be seen in Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming flick Raees.
