More trouble for Salman Khan: Victim's family moves Supreme Court

Salman Khan’s legal troubles are far from over. The SC has extended the hearing of Salman Khan’s 2002 hit-and-run case to Friday February 12, 2016. The bench was responding to the fresh appeal filed in the case by the Maha state government but now two days before the hearing, the family of Noorullah Khan, who was killed in the accident has moved SC to challenge Salman Khan’s acquittal. Earlier, Shaikh, Noorullah Khan’s son was quoted saying by Indian Express: “I forgive Salman, but now I don’t know who killed my father. It has been 13 years… even today, the question remains unanswered. The verdict has not brought any closure. In my view, his act was not intentional. It was an accident, and my father happened to be the unfortunate victim… the sentencing serves no purpose.”

Describing the acquittal of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in a 2002 hit-and-run case a "travesty of justice", the Maharashtra government argued and sought the Supreme Court to reverse the Bombay High Court order on the ground that Salman was behind the wheels when his SUV mowed down a man who was sleeping on the pavement.

Attorney General (AG) Mukul Rohatgi, who appeared for the state of Maharashtra, told a bench headed by Justice J S Khehar that, "There is every evidence in every stage against Salman. His acquittal is complete travesty of justice," and described as "perverse" the high court's December 2015 order, overturning the trial court's conviction order against the 50
