Michael Douglas has opened up about his son, who is experiencing anti-Semitism, in a hope that this hate ends sooner rather than later.

The Wall Street actor wrote an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times stating in 2014 during a holiday his son, Dylan Michael Douglas went to a swimming pool and soon came running back to his room, upset as a man insulted him, E! Online reported.

The 70 year-old actor added that when he confronted that man he got to know that man's outrage came because the actor's son was wearing a 'Star of David'. He later on explained to his son the meaning of the term, anti-Semitism that his son just experiences, which was like a disease that goes dormant, flaring up with the political trigger.

Douglas, who was raised in no formal religious upbringing as his dad was Jewish but his mother was not, thanked French Prime Minster, Manuel Vallas and Pope Francis for speaking out against anti-Semitism, and hoped that ordinary people could also step in and take action to end any hatred of the Jewish people.

The American actor mentioned that if anyone confront anti-Semitism whenever they see it, and combat it individually and as a society, then it can be uprooted, also his son was strong, and was fortunate enough to live in a country where anti-Semitism was rare.

Douglas wished that he didn't have to teach his son this subject, but now his is son has learned to handle these dangers, but hoped that his grand children would never face this hatred.
