There is a new Harry Potter cast in town and they're old, wise and still cool.

The cast for the middle-aged stage version of Harry Potter has been announced. Jamie Parker, Paul Thornley, and Noma Dumezweni will portray the roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger for the upcoming play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Jamie Parker has The Lady in the Van, Valkyrie and The History Boys in his impressive movie kitty. Currently, the actor is appearing in Guys and Dolls at London's Savoy Theatre. Parker said that it is not easy for him to play Harry Potter now that Potter is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three kids.

Noma Dumezweni will play Hermione Granger. Noma resume boasts of Doctor Who, Macbeth and EastEnders among others.

Paul Thornley will portray Ron Weasley, now married to Hermione Granger. He is previously featured in Sacha Baron Cohen movie Grimsby, Les Miserables, and Life Begins.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, author JK Rowling said in a statement, "I’m so excited with the choice of casting for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I can’t wait to see Jamie, Noma and Paul bring the adult Harry, Hermione and Ron to life on stage next summer.”

Nothing much in known about the play except for the synopsis: While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

The play will be in two parts which are intended to be seen in order on the same day, or on two consecutive evenings. An initial 16 weeks of performances will go on sale in the first booking period, which starts on October 30. Publicists have been releasing a drip-drip of information over several months in what appears to be a strategy to tantalise fans, although commercial success for the venture looks extremely likely, regardless of any marketing efforts.
