Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has hinted at the possibility of a Captain America movie without Steve Rogers. Strengthening the concept put forward by Avengers: Infinity War director duo Russo brothers.

In an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige said, "If we look back at the comic books as our inspiration and as the well from which this all springs, then the answer is 'no'".

He also said that he is not saying this will be implemented in the movies, but he has read comic books which didn't have Steve Rogers holding Captain America's shield.

In an interview with Huffington Post, Russo brothers had said that after Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, let go of the shield at the end of Civil War, he made it clear that he made a personal choice and let go of the identity.

If Steve Rogers gives up Captain America identity he can always come back as The Nomad and there are already two eligible candidates still in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who can take the Captain America moniker. In the previous comic books, Sam Wilson and Buck Barnes, Falcon and The Winter Soldier respectively, have picked up the shield made for Steve Rogers by Howard Stark.

In the interview with Collider, when asked about some actors in MCU at the end of their deals, including Evans, he said that there is a long way before they get to the negotiation table since many of them have three movies left in their contracts.

This means we will see Steve Rogers in upcoming Marvel movies, including Avengers: Infinity War, but there are good chances he will no longer be Captain America.
