Malayalam director Sanalkumar Sasidharan titles next film 'Sexy Durga'

He's an award-winning Malayalam filmmaker who is now the centre of attention. Sanalkumar Sasidharan has titled his upcoming film as Sexy Durga. According to a report in The Hindu, the director is not open to changing the title, though it may be controversial. Sexy Durya is an erotic Malayalam satire.

The director who has films like Oralppokkam and Ozhivudivasathe Kali to his credit, told the daily that he has no other name to give his movie considering its content. "It’s a satire on the contemporary social milieu of Kerala. It makes an effort to map how our society views sex, privacy and women. It will be narrated through 10 scenes, or rather 10 events,” the director was quoted as stating. 

With regard to the criticism he might get for the title, Sasidharan said that ‘the biggest surrender a film-maker could make is to change a title fearing backlash and criticism.’

The daily also quotes him as saying that he did not have any vicious intentions or plans to gain mileage out of this title. He said he enjoys the freedom as a filmmaker to give an appropriate title for the movie. He was quoted as saying that many women have the name Durga.  

Rajasri Deshpande of Angry Indian Goddesses fame is playing the lead role in the movie. Sexy Durga, which will begin in March, is going to be shot in Perumbavur and Thiruvananthapuram.
