Tamil star Dhanush who makes his Hindi debut with Aanand Rai’s Raanjhanaa will be in Mumbai today Sunday to celebrate Maha Shivratri with a big public aarti and puja. Dhanush, who is a die-hard devotee of Shiva insisted on being in Mumbai with his director.
The two seem to have stuck a spiritual rapport while working in Varanasi for the film. Says Aanand, “In Varanasi, together we experienced what can only be called a spiritual awakening. It happened on New Year’s Eve when Dhanush and I were in a boat in the Ganga. Suddenly all the noise around stopped and as 2012 turned into 2013, there was only stillness all around us. That experience changed our lives.” It was then that the two Shiv Bhakts decided they’d celebrate together on Maha Shivratri.
Says Aanand, “It was at the Kashi-Vishwanath temple in Varanasi that we decided to meet up today and celebrate it in a big way. We’re keeping that promise to one another.”
