The two seem to have stuck a spiritual rapport while working in Varanasi for the film. Says Aanand, “In Varanasi, together we experienced what can only be called a spiritual awakening. It happened on New Year’s Eve when Dhanush and I were in a boat in the Ganga. Suddenly all the noise around stopped and as 2012 turned into 2013, there was only stillness all around us. That experience changed our lives.” It was then that the two Shiv Bhakts decided they’d celebrate together on Maha Shivratri.
