Censor Board of India refused to certify the film saying its 'lady oriented' while film festivals across the globe applauded and awarded the film. But now that's a thing of the past as India's wait is over. As the much-awaited trailer of the controversial film, Lipstick Under My Burkha is out.

Directed by Alankrita Srivastava, the film boasts of talented actresses across generations, from Ratna Pathak Shah to Konkana Sen Sharma. The film tells the story of four secret lives and four fantasies. Interestingly, the film's trailer begins with screen shots of the headlines that the film made in newspapers right after CBFC tried to shut it down and as they begin a lipstick revolutions of bringing women's fantasies to the big screen, a dialogue in the film " why are you scared of our freedom." With taglines like 'the film they didn't want you to see' and 'they called it lady oriented' and bold scenes from the film, the trailer is ready to bring a feminist movement to the big screen and ready to cash on all the controversies it has been through.

Ekta Kapoor, is backing this Prakash Jha's production and recently said, that the middle finger on the poster of the film is not for the CBFC, but for the society. Lipstick Under My Burkha is releasing on July 21.
