Letter reveals John Lennon's attempt to boost Yoko Ono's music career

A newly surfaced letter has revealed that John Lennon made desperate attempts to boost Yoko Ono's music career by getting her on TV.

The former Beatles star wrote to popular chat show host Joe Franklin in 1971 in a desperate bid to promote Ono's album, Fly, which he described as "free form music" - despite critics hating it, Daily Express reported. The letter, which goes up for auction at the end of October, described Lennon's efforts by asking Franklin to invite the Japanese-born singer on his show. However, Ono never appeared on the show.

Bobby Livingston, of RR Auction, said the written plea ultimately failed, adding that even the biggest rock star in the world couldn't convince the executives of Ono's talent. The letter, dated December 13, 1971, is expected to fetch £12,000 at an auction.
