Sherlock showrunners unveiled the new trailer for the upcoming fourth season of the series on Sunday.

At the San Diego Comic-Con panel, Benedict Cumberbatch joined Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, Amanda Abbington, and producer Sue Vertue to engage with the fans, cosplaying or otherwise, to talk about the upcoming season.

Fandom was brought out of hiatus like nobody's business as the trailer released. The curls were back, so was Moriarty. At the panel, showrunners promised a darker season for the consulting detective and his blogger John Watson, played by Martin Freeman.

The trailer was full of moments that forced us to scratch our heads. Then there were moments meant only to invoke a squee out of fans.

Let's take a look at trailer one frame at a time

By god, we definitely missed him!

There is no missing the brooding stance. This time, Cumberbatch does it in the way Arthur Conan Doyle's Holmes is supposed to do!

Who is this person? Is this Culverton Smith or John Watson? If this is John Watson standing by a hospital bed, with posture suggesting tension and defeat at the same time, we wonder if this is because Sherlock is hurt? Or is Mary in bad shape? Or worse, Sherlock has fallen off the wagon!

Another pool? Is Moriarty repeating himself? Nice silhouette, though!

In the trailer, we hear Sherlock say, "Something is coming." He is not sure if it's Moriarty. This puts him in a spot. And like we know from season 2 episode 1, A Scandal in Belgravia, he hates being outnumbered. Also look at the pretty Belstaff coat!

These are the darker times promised by Steve Moffat. Very Hitchcock?

Oh hello, familiar characters!

Dr. John Hamish Watson!

Oooh, these are the fight scenes promised at the panel! With Black Ops!

This season shall see Molly Hooper stand tall to Sherlock's bullying and be his sounding board. We still cannot forget the tight slaps she planted on Shezza, just as we cannot forget the moment she and Sherlock kissed (Who cares if it was all in Anderson's head!)

And here comes Toby Jones. According to Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, he will be playing one of Arthur Conan Doyle's 'finest villain.'

Here come the high-speed chase and dishoom-dishoom!

What is Billy Wiggins doing lurking in the dark?

Whatever happened to Mary's hair colour? And why the covert operation? Does this mean when we saw Mary collaborating with Mycroft Holmes in The Abominable Bride, it was not only Sherlock's Mind Palace imagination? Did Sherlock always know about Mary and Mycroft's professional relationship? SO MANY QUESTIONS!

THE ICONIC SCENE FROM THE TRAILER. "You reptile!"

We don't know why Mrs. Hudson called Mycroft a reptile. But to be honest, it felt good!

Why is Watson looking at Holmes' chair? Johnlockers, let's deduce!

Does anyone ever really die in the series? Sherlock came back and here is Moriarty!

Time for appreciation of Benedict Cumberbatch! Worship the cheekbones, cupid's bow, and sharp gaze!

Hospital. Nurses. St Barts Mortuary. Scruffy, dishevelled Sherlock. Are we getting another disturbing Mind Palace scene on the lines of His Last Vow?

The season is indeed darker, including the cinematography choices!

Because the trailer alone is not enough, the stars of the show also left three 'names' from the show to confuse us more.

Expression on my face right now-
