Lata Mangeshkar extends helping hand to ailing Mubarak Begum

Singer Lata Mangeshkar has reached out to her contemporary and now ailing Mubarak Begum, offering help for her medical treatment and expenses. The gesture has given a new hope to the yesteryear legend. 

According to a Maharashtra Times report, Mubarak Begum was recently hospitalised owing to her deteriorating health, after the death of her daughter. She was discharged five days ago, but has still not fully recovered. Lata Mangeshkar reportedly called the singer on Thursday and spoke to her for a good 25 minutes.

Lata didi then reportedly told Mubarak Begum that the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune could take care of her treatment. She also arranged for a some amount to be set aside for Begum's medical expenses via the trust, so that she need not worry about the expenses. 

Mubarak Begum lives with her son in Jogeshwari.
