Koffee with Sid-Jack was giggles galore...

Koffee With Karan this week featured two of the most uninspiring guests I’ve seen  on the show. Karan Johar, the devil, tried his best to get a link-up out of Jacqueline ‘Jack’ Fernandez and Sidharth ‘Sid’ Malhotra. That would have at least been some excitement in a talk show where the guests definitely had more fun than us.

Karan nearly got there doing his math on all the things they had done together from cutting her birthday cake at midnight at his Delhi home to eating together at his Mumbai home. But the wily host couldn’t get a confession out of the good-looking couple. They did giggle and laugh a lot, though.Rather, Fernandez did.

Karan commented on her excessive exuberance. But she explained that giggling and laughing all the time didn’t mean she was constantly happy. Okay, then what does it mean? Koffee With Karan this Sunday was completely devoid of any relevance let alone gravity. It was the visual equivalent of a powder puff with the two goodlooking immaculately turned-out people in desperate need of a script for the laughs. These were two designer people sitting on the couch, poised to have fun even though they didn’t really think it was fun to be on the show.

‘Jack’ , that’s the actress with a solid body of work like Alladin and Kick behind her, confessed she was so nervous about coming on the show that she willed herself to fall ill and postpone the recording. I can understand her trepidation. She confessed people think she was a bimbette because she laughed a lot. And then she did nothing to dispel that reputation.

For the entire talk show she giggled and laughed at Sid’s jokes like Vidya Balan laughing at Naseeruddin Shah’s jokes in Dirty Picture. When she got bored giggling in English she giggled in French. And then the high point: she proposed to Sidharth Malhotra (posing as Sidharth Malhotra proposing to Jacqueline Fernandez) saying, “Are you an orphanage? I want to give you babies.” Are you serious? I want to give you a Santa-Banta jokebook.

At the end of the stunningly vacuous talk show I couldn’t care less whether these two were together or not.I just wanted out.
