Singer Amit Kumar has lent his voice for one of the leading characters, Guru in Sony YAY!’s flagship show Guru Aur Bhole. The character shares a resemblance to the legendary singer and Amit Kumar’s father Kishore Kumar, and there couldn’t have been a better fit than his very own son to fill in the shoes. This will be his second stint (DuckTales was the first) as a voice for an animated lead character.

Guru Aur Bhole is the story of a friendship between its lead characters — Guru and Bhole, who cannot function without each other, but together, using the former’s magic music and latter’s dance super-powers they get out of the stickiest of situations.

Every episode of the show will have a new song, sung by Amit, with music by Raju Singh and lyrics by Sameer.

Amit says, “My character has been inspired from my father’s character in Padosan. What I found most challenging was that we would record everything on-the-spur-of-the-moment. Karne mein bahut mazaa aaya. I have suggested to the producers that we bring out an album of these songs as they are wonderful and have some really good melodies!”

Amit says he would get nostalgic remembering his father while singing. “He was always there at the back of my mind and Raju used to tell me, ‘Think like Kishoreda! Baba jaisa gao!’. It’s difficult singing like my father as I have my own style, but I managed.”
