King of the Blues, BB King passes away at age of 89 in Las Vegas

The one-time farmhand started performing in the 1940's. Once he was ranked in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time, right below Jimi Hendrix and Duane Allman.

Known for hits like 'Lucille', 'Sweet Black Angel', 'The Thrill Is Gone', and 'Rock Me Baby', blues guitarist and singer BB king died at the age of 89.

Named as 'King of the Blues', BB King passed away in his sleep at his home in Las Vegas, his lawyer Brent Bryson told reporters.

King was born in Mississippi in United States of America.

The one-time farmhand started performing in the 1940's. Once he was ranked in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time, right below Jimi Hendrix and Duane Allman.

King won 15 Grammy awards through out his career. He was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Until recently he performed in at least 100 concerts a year. BB king was a mentor to scores of guitarists including Eric Clapton.

BB king was recently taken to hospital with a diabetes-related illness.
