Kim Basinger to play Christian Grey's former paramour in 'Fifty Shades Darker'

The 9 Weeks star Kim Basinger will play Elena Lincoln, business partner and former lover of the Christian Grey, in Fifty Shades Darker.

In the second book of EL James' best-selling series, Lincoln sets herself up to be an antagonist for Anastasia Steele, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The 62-year-old actress will join Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, who are returning to reprise their roles of Steele and Grey, respectively.

Filmmaker James Foley will helm the project. He is also directing the next instalment, Fifty Shades Freed.

Niall Leonard is penning both the adaptations.

Fifty Shades Darker is slated for a February 10, 2017 release.
