Ki and Ka: Why Arjun Kapoor's gutsy choice is a benchmark for other Gen-Y actors!

When Arjun Kapoor decided to play the 'house husband' in R Balki's Ki and Ka, many had scoffed off at the idea. But now that the trailer is out, this might just be Arjun's game-changer!

It's been over three years that Arjun Kapoor has been in the industry and this is his fourth year in B-Town. As many as six films old, Arjun Kapoor has taken the plunge. I won't call Ki and Ka a risky affair. More than Ki and Ka, Finding Fanny seemed like a bigger risk, given its content and treatment. This is more Bollywood-ish. Funny, zanny and extremely audience friendly, Ki and Ka adheres to Bollywood standards. That wasn't.

But there's something common in both the choices Arjun made. These were two of the bravest decisions ever in his career. And he would agree as well. Ballsy and gutsy, Arjun's call of doing a film like Ki and Ka hasn't surprised me. But it's definitely a trademark shift from the usual type of films the younger generation (Arjun included!) is subjecting themselves to. And we understand their reasons too.

At a time when box office figures dictate the career choices one makes in life, we don't blame anyone. But then again, if a Varun Dhawan can try out a Badlapur and still turn out successful and an Arjun Kapoor can pick a Ki and Ka over other sure-shot blockbuster action comedies, why can't the others follow suit? I don't know if the film will be a box office churner or a money spinner for Arjun but there's one thing that it will definitely bring about. Or maybe, the change is already in process. That the newer breed of actors will now be going out of their comfort zone to try something unusual and hatke

Ki and Ka is hatke in every sense. No, it's not a typical woman-centric film. Neither is it just another usual relationship saga that traverses from coy romance to melodrama. And we hope that the bold choice that Arjun has made gives his contemporaries the same confidence to try something out-of-the-box and surprise us the same way he did!

I'm absolutely in love with the world of Kabir and Kia that R Balki has painted through his fantastic trailer. It might seem like a Utopian world to many but the strong paradigm shifts that are slowly taking charge- inside the industry, the society  and everywhere else- the day's not far enough when we can feel the change within. After all, that's what matters. Kudos to Arjun for doing a Ki and Ka! Will the others follow suit? We hope so!
