Hollywood actor Kelly Macdonald, best known for her films including Trainspotting, Nanny McPhee, Gosford Park, Intermission, No Country for Old Men and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, among several others, is slated to visit India on June 23 and 24. According to sources, the actor who’s lent her voice in the animation flick Brave, (due to release on June 22) was looking forward to an oppurtunity to visit the country and jumped at the idea of coming here.

“Just like Julia Roberts, Kelly is extremely spiritually inclined, and had always wanted to visit India. So, when we were chalking out the Asia tour for Brave, she insisted on coming down to India and was very excited about it too,” says an insider. But unlike several celebs who have their sights set on Mumbai or Rajasthan, the actor apparently will be visiting Delhi and Lucknow instead. “Kelly wanted to see Varanasi and take a ride on the Ganges. She is inspired by Indian culture, so she chose Lucknow over Mumbai.

However, she has expressed a keen desire to come to Mumbai as well, some time later,” the source adds. In Brave, the actor has lent her voice to the lead character Princess Merida, for which actor Reese Witherspoon was also considered. Among the other actors lending their voices for the flick are Emma Thompson, Craig Ferguson, and Julie Walters.
