LONDON: Critics have slammed actor Keanu Reeves latest flick 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' as 'dull and lifeless' and the biggest turkey of the season.

However this is not the first time the actor has been criticised for being expressionless.
His role in this season's biggest film  was that of an alien from another planet who comes to the earth to warn humans to change their war like ways.

But it seems that he has failed in his mission with the critics clearly unimpressed and dubbing it as Christmas's biggest turkey, Daily Mail reported. The film is a remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film and was given a huge marketing budget, but kept away from
critics until the very last moment.

'If teens want a chilling sci-fi experience, they should skip this poorly conceived remake and get the 1951 original' The Washington Post said.

While film critic Chris Tookey said Keanu Reeves delivers the year's most inadequate performance as Klaatu, a thunderously boring, inadequately briefed. This is a disaster
movie, in more senses than one.' However the film does hold the viewers interest in the
second half  when flashy effects replace coherent storytelling'.

Despite the critical drubbing, industry experts predict it will still take over USD 20 million in its opening weekend in the domestic circuit.
