Actor and stand-up comedian Kavi Shastri who teamed up with Vir Das to form the company Weirdass is gearing up to make a comeback on TV, this time as a host. The British-Indian actor made his TV debut in the YRF show Kismat followed by Rishta.com after which he disappeared from the telly scene. Says Kavi, "My first show was unique and though it didn't do well here it was received well in UK and Middle East. It was a well-written show and I felt it was my moral responsibility to do something that stood out. I was choosy about my work. I need a certain amount of reality in fiction too!"

Now, four years after his debut, Kavi is returning in a new avatar - as the host of Love By Chance, a romcom inspired by real love stories with an underlying theme of serendipity. "I believe that love happens by chance. That's how I met my wife Sherryl too. I was at Bandra's Mount Mary Church and wasn't looking for love. But when I bumped into her, I was struck," says Kavi who is a romantic at heart. On the show too, he will not only be the narrator but an integral part of the stories. "I will be travelling with the protagonists and you will see the story through my eyes and yes the humour quotient makes it more appealing," he explains.

While he was away from TV, Kavi did a couple of films Love Aaj Kal and Aurangzeb, which had him in a negative role. "Lot of people strive to do lead roles but I don't think in terms of big or small. The concept has to appeal to me," says the actor, who will be seen next in Amit Sahni Ki List and a British film. "It's great to do a film in UK after eight years. I have been brought up and trained there," he smiles.
