Time for Punjabi classes! Kareena Kapoor will be taking a language course for Udta Punjab.
She’s cut down on her films and become extremely picky over the last few years. Yet when she does a film, it creates a sensation. Kareena, who’s now busy wrapping up Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan opposite Salman Khan will quickly move on to her next project with Shahid Kapoor- Udta Punjab. “Kareena is now shooting for Bajrangi and she will be done by the end of February. Right now, she’s prepping up for her role in Udta Punjab and will start shooting for it tentatively from March”, a source informed.
But among all other preparations for her role, the feisty actress is also taking Punjabi lessons! “Kareena’s character from the film is a hardcore Punjabi and most of her dialogues are in Punjabi. That is why Kareena will train herself in Punjabi and has taken up a 10 day training course already”. Although belonging to a Punjabi legion and shooting for some of her films (Read: Jab We Met and Bodyguard) in the state-of-the-mustard-fields, Bebo cannot speak the language fluently.
“The problem with Kareena is that despite being a Punjabi and playing a Punjabi girl many a times in her films, she hardly communicated in Punjabi with the people around. Her attitude has the Punjabi flare- she loves Punjabi dresses, she’s in your face and unabashed, but the language is a big problem. She only speaks tooti-footi Punjabi and the role demanded her to perfect her diction”, revealed the source.
Bebo who’s known to put in hundred percent to all her films isn’t letting this barrier affect her. She has enrolled for a training session to learn the language. “She will be training for the language with a college professor from Delhi and has taken up a 10 day training course with the professor. The trainer - Rajat Singh teaches in Delhi University and will fly down to Mumbai especially for Kareena”, her spokesperson confirmed the news. The language professor has been ‘recommended by a close family member and Kareena is looking forward to taking up the challenge’.
With a packed schedule, one wonders how Bebo will make time. But our diva is an absolute stunner. She has everything planned, in-spite of having a ‘choc-a-bloc schedule’. “Kareena has a tight schedule of Bajrangi Bhaijaan coming up. But she will start the Punjabi training right after shooting for her item song in Karan Johar’s Brothers. She will simultaneously be planning sister-in-law Soha Ali Khan’s wedding and chipping in time for her Punjabi diction classes”. Kamaal karti ho, Bebo!
