Karan replaces Gautam in Diya Aur Baati Hum

Gautam Gulati, Diya Aur Baati Hum’s Vikram Rathi, has bid adieu to the show and Karan Goddwani is all set to replace him. While Gautam has been quoted as saying he is quitting the show to pursue film projects, sources say he will be a part of  Bigg Boss 8. “His last day of shoot for DABH is September 20 and Bigg Boss starts from the 21,” says the source. The makers have now roped in Karan, last seen in Mrs Pammi Pyarelal, to play the role. Says Karan, “When I got a call from Sumeet Mittal, I was happy to go and give a screen test. I was finalised within two days.” For Karan, it will be a huge challenge, not only replacing Gautam, but also essaying the Rajasthani character. “My background is different from Vikram’s. I am a Mumbaite now and was brought up in Spain, so getting the Rajasthani dialect right will be a challenge,” he says.  

Meanwhile, speculation is rife that the serial will go off air in the next three months. The show’s ratings have been on a downward spiral since the last three weeks and the makers are trying to infuse freshness with new tracks. Gaurav Sharma, who played the terrorist RK, is back in the show. Last time his track had fetched high ratings for the show. They are probably hoping for the same. Producer Sumeet Mittal refuted it saying, “All these are baseless rumours. DABH is going through an interesting plot. Moreover, it continues to get the love and support from its worldwide audience. Why should it be pulled off air?”
