Karan Johar will now produce the Hindi remake of Sairat!

When Sairat released, no one had anticipated such a huge response to the film. The Marathi film went on to bring in Rs 100 crore at the box office and was the first regional film to do so. Now, Karan Johar has acquired the rights to remake the film.

Starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, Sairat is a tragic romantic tale which many producers have been wanting to remake in different languages. But KJo has finally bagged the rights, reports a popular trade magazine. 

Dharma Productions will co-produce the Hindi version with Zee who are the original producers. The remake will have a new cast and the writers are working on the script right-away. The film should roll sometime next year.
