Kapil Sharma had gifted the small screen with one of its best running comedy shows till date- Comedy Nights with Kapil. Impromptu jigs, random jokes, stars galore, CNWK was an instant hit with the audience. So much that almost every Bollywood star made an appearance on the show. Now, following a slip disc injury, Kapil Sharma will be discontinuing from being a part of the show. Instead, the channel has roped in Karan Johar as a replacement for the time being.
A source told us, “Kapil has suffered a slip disc injury so he is not in a position to host the show for now. The channel had two options to choose. Either they could drop the show or continue with a new host. They opted for the latter.” Will Kapil Sharma’s family be the same? “As of now, yes. But there will be creative changes made, post Kapil’s exit,” informed the same source.
But Karan won’t be the only replacement. “The channel has plans to rope in three more Bollywood celebrities. Karan has been finalised already. They are in talks with three others to come on board.” Who are the three? We don’t know yet.
Kapil shot for his last episode with Salman Khan and has now taken a break from the show. After Koffee with Karan, KJo turned heads as a judge on a variety of reality shows on the channel- India’s Got Talent and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Now, it was an easy decision for the channel to rope Karan in for CNWK too.
But will Karan be able to match upto Kapil’s comic timing? Will he ensure a steady flow of TRPs for the channel, sans Kapil? Let’s wait and watch.
