In all the mythologicals we have seen so far, Kans has been shown sporting a moustache and a thick mane of hair. However, in an upcoming show, Parmavatar Shri Krishna, Kans has undergone a complete transformation — He has become bald and is without a moustache! Manish Wadhwa is playing the role that has been inspired by the character of Xerxes from the Hollywood film 300! Says a source, “When we were conceptualising the look of Kans, we wanted it to be extremely distinct and menacing to bring out Kans’ traits to the fore. Xerxes is one of the most popular characters from the 300 series and his look is iconic. Considering Kans’ larger than-life-personality, we wanted to design a look which justifies the character and Xerxes was a strong inspiration.” Manish who has already gone bald for his role as Bajirao’s father in Peshwa Bajirao fit into the role perfectly. “Now, I am working on putting on weight to play king Kans,” he says.
