Kannada film 'Care of Footpath 2' joins Oscars 2016 race alongwith 'Court'

Along with Marathi film 'Court', Kannada film 'Care of Footpath 2' is set to be India's official entry for Oscars 2016 in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Director Kishan Shrikanth's film has received a 'lateral entry' to the Academy Awards. 

Kishan, who is all of 19, has his name recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the 'Youngest director of a professionally made feature length film' at the age of 9. In 2006, his first film Care of Footpath even received a National Film Award for Best Children's Film. 

Care of Footpath 2 stars Bollywood actress Esha Deol, Balika Vadhu actor Avika Gor in pivotal roles. Care of Footpath starred Jackie Shroff, Saurabh Shukla, Kannada actress Tara and South Indian actor Sudeep. Kishan Shrikanth himself has acted in both the films. 

This is the first time a Kannada movie has made received an Oscar entry. The film is set for an all India release in November. It will be released in Hindi as 'Kill Them Young'.

Esha Deol's mother, veteran actress Hema Malini, took to Twitter to announce the news.
