Arvind Swami has been roped in to play the role of MGR in Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi. His first look from the film has been unveiled via a teaser from the film starring Kangana Ranaut as 'Thalaivi' Jayalalithaa.

The 'Thalaivi' MGR first look teaser begins with the introduction 'The man they called 'God'', followed by a photo of the original MGR aka Maruthur Gopala Ramachandran. Further stating that he was loved by most, the slide mentioned, 'DOB: 17-1-1917 - "Still lives in people's hearts".

Thereafter, Arvind Swami is introduced as MGR through a song, which also gives us a glimpse of his relationship with people. The slide then concludes by writing, "Arvind Swamy as Makkal Thilagam". For the uninitiated, Makkal Thilagam, translated as people's king, is a more popular name for MGR.

MGR had worked with Jayalalithaa on the movie front. After his death, his party AIADMK alias All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam got divided between his wife Janaki Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa, who later merged in 1989.
