Kangana Ranaut or Devika Bhise: Whose Rani Lakshmibai film will reach the finish line first?

Considering the amount of noise Kangana Ranaut made over the launch of Manikarnika, her film on the legendary Queen of Jhansi, directed by ace Telugu producer Krish, this bit of news should come as a downer to the actress. Producer Swati Bhise has announced her own project on Rani Lakshmibai, starring her daughter Devika Bhise, with Mahesh Manjrekar at the helm of the project.

And here’s why Kangana should worry. By all accounts, scripting (KV Vijayendra Prasad) is still on and the film is targeting a release in April. Bhise’s project starts shooting in Jhansi come September this year and is expected to be completed by the year-end. While a release date hasn’t been announced, we know that they, too, are aiming for a summer release.

Says the source, “Swati intends to give her film an extensive worldwide release. The Kangana biopic will undoubtedly lose out once the world sees the Rani of Jhansi’s story in another film.”
