Mired in controversy and legal battle with Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, actress Kangana Ranaut for the first time spoke to the media regarding the issue. She opened up to NDTV in a tell-all interview and she said that she believes her 'success is her sweet revenge'. In the interview she says that "every attempt is being made to embarrass me, but I am not embarrassed."

The actress who has been awarded her third National Award for her role in 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' says that she never deliberately try and fight and offend anyone, unlike what people have made her out to be like a 'serial offender'.

"There are two kinds of people, people pleaser or self-pleaser, and I definitely fall into the category of 'self-pleaser'. I care about my own priorities more than what others' expectations of me is....Sometimes for people to give me my dues, I have to get up on my own and get it," says the 'Queen'.

Talking about the Hrithik-Kangana battle

When asked about how the whole Hrithik Roshan saga has been, Kangana said, "This platform doesn't allow me to delve into my perception of a certain equation. But the recent turn of events has been extremely alarming for me also... We are an extremely sexist country.... It doesn't upset me if people call me names and talk about my period blood, just don't call it 'gross'. There is nothing gross about period blood. When we think about periods, that is my ability to reproduce..."

Kangana says

As far as all the name calling is concerned we as women we have been defending ourselves for way too long... When a woman becomes successful, the first thing she becomes a 'dayan' then she goes on to become a whore, and when she is crazily successful, she becomes a psychopath. If she is sexually active, she becomes a whore"

Kangana is currently in New Delhi to receive her National Award. She believes her success is her sweet revenge against the controversy.

"As far as physical violence is concerned, apart from the incident where I hit a man with my stiletto, I have never gone down to raise my hand to anyone. Because, women can kill with success and sarcasm, why use hands?" says Kangana.

And how does she deal with difficult moments?

The 'Gangster' actress says, "In the last few days, there have been moments when I have been randomly breaking down, and I really feel cornered, and I feel targeted, but then there are cupcakes that you can always fall back on!"

"I cannot pretend to be sorry for things that I am not, and I cannot pretend to be somebody else that I am not. I wish I would have not offended so many people, and I wish people would have been happy with me. I am happy, but there way too many emotions flying around on this day which was usually so awaited and anticipated," she tells.

Is there any regret on this big day?

"No, not really, I have followed my instinct, it has been quite a roller coaster but I feel that I am on the right track. My journey is from a remote village in Manali to where I am today, the Rashtrapati Bhavan. It has been an extraordinary journey. It has to have so many plot points, even fairy tale has villains," she ends.
