Actress Kangana Ranaut has often admitted to nurturing a desire to do high-octane action on the big screen. And now the actor has been signed on to do just that in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s action-oriented flick Revolver Rani which is being directed by Sai Kabeer.
An insider reveals that the filmmakers were initially keen to cast Tabu for the role, but things did not work out and they finally zeroed in on Kangana. However, the filmmakers did have one condition before signing her on — that she would do all her stunts herself and not use a body double. “The film is extremely action-packed and centres around the female protagonist, so the makers wanted the actress to look convincing in the part,” reveals an insider. “Kangana is known to be quite a risk-taker when it comes to her roles. And she essayed intense roles to comical ones with equal ease, so we were keen on casting her. She has the looks and even the physicality to look the part. But at the same time, we were apprehensive about approaching Kangana as we thought that she may not agree to this clause of not using a body-double. But she surprised us by agreeing to undergo a month’s training to prepare for the role,” reveals a source from the production team.
The month-long session not only includes her prepping for many of the stunts, but also includes training in handling guns. “She will be learning how to shoot, since as the name indicates, it is very vital for her character,” adds a source. The actor will apparently also get into more intensive work-outs for the gun-totting character. The shooting is expected to begin only early next year. Before which, Kangana will be busy shooting for Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout At Wadala and Karan Johar’s Ungli. “She has been a part of many action films in the past, but this will be the first time that she will be seen doing the action herself. She seems very excited about getting to ‘shoot’ some serious butt in the film,” adds the source.
