Deepika Padukone was one of the few actresses who didn’t personally call Kangana Ranaut to congratulate her for her performance in Queen and the latter was quite open about noticing the snub. Soon after, Dippy extended an olive branch, called up and cleared any misunderstandings. Today they share a different equation.

IT’S ALL HEALTHY
Kangana explains, “There was some misunderstanding, so I think she decided to just pick up the phone and call, which I thought was great. And when people have nothing against each other and share a good vibe, it’s all healthy. She called me for the Piku trial and the success party, thereafter, too. I loved her film and her performance. It’s a commendable effort. An effort to go beyond the obvious and really achieve all that. So, I want to be a part of every happiness of hers. That’s all there is. Other than that, I frankly don’t see why it is so difficult for people to understand this.”

NOT BRAINLESS!
Kangana says she’s still okay with scrutiny and speculation about insecurities between actresses. But it irks her to see them being labelled ‘brainless’. She says, “What I do mind is that they underestimate your IQ. They expect you to be completely childish. They don’t understand that there are people — women in this industry with exceptional IQs. What really hurts is that they talk lowly about you. Sometimes, I wonder if they are talking about seven-year-olds or about us? I am not saying there are no conflicts. There are, but when such things get written about, it makes me feel like I am not this person at all. Make me bitchy, make me evil, make me anything you want, don’t make me dumb. I don’t mind being called anything else. Being called dumb is not acceptable. That is what hurts. You can write about us fighting, not getting along, but the gossip is so lame. Sometimes I am like, ‘This is what you come up with when we provided you so much?’” she laughs.

FRIENDS-WISE
Friends are hard to come by in Bollywood and Kangana has a very clear demarcation about people who are important to her. She has a few people who she bonds with but is sure enough to know that she wouldn’t call them friends. “I do have well-wishers, but friends are people who fall into a very different category. They are people who admire me for my work, I admire them for their work but they might not be the people I want to back-slap and say, ‘Hey, let’s have a beer.’ It’s a mix of everything,” she signs off.
