His choice of films have been quite eclectic with those like Rang De Basanti, Golmaal, 3 Idiots, etc. Actor Sharman Joshi reveals that a solo hero film was never on his agenda. “I always  dreamt of doing at least 10 films in my career that leave a mark on audiences’ mind. And I feel with Rang De Basanti, 3 Idiots and now Ferrari Ki Sawaari, I have achieved 30 percent of my target. For me, my script is the bible, the length of a role or starcast was never on my priority list. Filmmakers with good scripts and essaying my character honestly is important. Maybe that’s why I am doing my first solo hero film now,” smiles Sharman.

Hailing from a family of actors, right from his mother Sarita to sisters Mansi and Purbi, Sharman believes that an actor need not always be politically correct. So, when asked if he wishes to get into production, he instantly replies, “I still want to do many good films. Right now, all my energies are concentrated on being a good actor first, sometime later may be I will get into direction or production.”

Speaking about his first solo film, the actor says that this role has been special as the script is simple yet impactful. “I know it’s my first solo film, but frankly I would’ve loved to be a part of this wonderful story even as a supporting actor. I agree that solo film is important for commercial value.  However, I  would also love to do films like Dabangg, contrary to the popular belief that I want to do stories with some underlying message only. As an entertainer, I don’t think I should restrict my creativity. A good actor is one who doesn’t stick to what he is best known for, but is versatile,”  adds Sharman.
