Surpassing the earnings of Marvel franchise Avengers: Age of Ultron, Universal's Jurassic World has become the highest grossing movie of the year in North America.

Starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, Jurassic World has collected $460 million and will soon become the fastest-grossing film to mark $500 million at box office, reports Deadline. Avengers became the current record holder in 23 days and by the pace Jurassic World is going, it will achieve this target in just 18 or 19 days.

First half of the year 2015 had the line up of Furious 7, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Jurassic World to keep the rally of box office records going in upward direction.

Second half of the year 2015 has some promising films lined up too. Starting with Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, it goes on with The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay, part 2, Spectre, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It will be an interesting year to see these franchise compete for maximum audience attention!
