The Avengers director Joss Whedon is creating a new comic book, Twist, to be published by Dark Horse Comics.

Whedon, known for creating the TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Agents of SHIELD, said the new comic book will be a "Victorian thriller", reported Entertainment weekly.

"It's a Victorian thriller about a meek chambermaid who is fed to a dark horror, but instead of dying, she returns, with knowledge, power, and rage she can neither deny nor control," Whedon said in a statement.  "It deals with the most important moral question facing us, which is: Why isn't there a Victorian female Batman?"

The comic, which will be launched as a six-issue mini-series, does not have a release date yet.

Whedon had earlier written the acclaimed revamp of Astonishing X-Men for Marvel Comics in 2004 and has written or executive produced a line of popular Buffy comics published by Dark Horse since 2007.
