Mad Men actor Jon Hamm is in talks to play one of the lead roles in sci-fi dramedy Marjorie Prime. An adaptation of playwright Jordan Harrison's 2015 Pulitzer prize finalist for drama, the story deals with the themes of accepting loss and growing older, reported Deadline.

The plot follows an elderly, arthritic former violinist named Marjorie, looking at the loss of old age as her memories begin to fail her.

She spends her time with her daughter and son in law, and with an damaged copy of her deceased husband, Walter, as he looked in his 30s and 40s.

Hamm, 44, is being considered for role of Walter.

Michael Almereyda, who wrote the adaptation, will direct the film as well.
