Veteran director and composer John Carpenter is releasing a new album, 'Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998,' on October 20.

The Halloween filmmaker will also be heading out on a US tour, which will kick off on October 29 in Las Vegas, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The album is being released by Sacred Bones and features newly recorded versions of 13 movie themes from Carpenter's films, including "The Thing", "Escape from New York", "Halloween", "They Live", and the Sam Neill-starring "In the Mouth of Madness".

"I worked on the soundtrack for 'In the Mouth of Madness' with Jim Lang. We never came up with a great main title theme.

In a rented house on Woodrow Wilson (my house was being remodeled), I came up with a heavy metal theme inspired by Metallica's 'Enter Sandman.'

"My friend Dave Davies played lead guitar, and now, over 20 years later, his son Daniel is playing the lead. One of my favorite themes," Carpenter said, in a statement, referring to his fellow composer.

Anthology is the third album release from Carpenter in recent times, following 2015's 'Lost Themes' and 106's 'Lost Themes II'.
