John Abraham was in London recently to finalise tie-ups with international directors and post-production houses for expanding his  production house. This isn’t for feature films.

Johnny Boy is more excited about his banner doing ad films. The actor has been making three ad films a year. One of the recent ones being Priyanka Chopra’s ad film for a camera.

John confirms, “I have tied up with 25 international directors, 15 Indian directors and four UK-based post-production houses for my ad films. They are the best directors in the world to direct ads in the different product categories we cater to. We have ad film directors for consumer durables, vehicles, corporate ads. So for each segment we have identified five international directors, amalgamated them all together and got 25 international directors to direct one ad campaign each. We have big expansion plans this year and there’s still a lot more on the page.”

John’s ad plans are not limited to producing them in India. He adds, “We  are looking at producing commercials in London and India. In India for us it’s a big cutting edge to tie-up with international post-production houses to get that finesse for the final product. We are happy to cater to the needs of our clients.” The actor informs that most of his clients don’t take him seriously at the first meeting. “The clients are surprised when they meet me.

Their first impression is of all brawn and no brains, and they don’t know whether to address me as an actor or a guy who knows his business. When I start talking about advertising, brand positioning and strategic planning they are taken aback as they can’t imagine an actor talking like this! So I offer them tea and coffee, warm them up and then by the end of our conversation, they realise that I mean business, and they have forgotten John Abraham the actor. And they know that they are talking to the owner of JA, the advertising and media man — the professional and that’s what matters to me,” he says.

John lets on that he is very organised  when it comes to work. He says, “In terms of personality I am not myopic in my approach about what my next films are going to be but also what my next brands will be and also my next productions. I love chess and it’s my most favourite game. My life is a game of chess so everything is planned and calculated, but not overtly.”
