Singer Joe McElderry said he would be elated to be a part of the remake of the Hollywood cult classic "Grease", if it is ever made.

The 26-year-old musician said he would love to venture into acting with a new version and feels he has what it takes to do justice to the role, reported FemaleFirst.

"I would love to be in a remake of 'Grease!', a real modern version, a brand new storyline, something for our generation that has the same effect that it had all them years ago. I wish there was a modernised version of it, that would be fun to be a part of and now I believe I have the ability," McElderry said.

"The Climb" singer said he was approached to do a film before, but things did not pan out that way.

"There was talks before about possibly doing a film and getting into acting a bit more but I've been so busy. I now have the confidence with acting and it's opened up a whole new world of performing," he said.
