Joaquin Phoenix's 'Joker' is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The film, earlier set to on 4th of October, has now been postponed for the 2nd October festive release. Warner Bros. India shared the news on its official Twitter handle.

The makers tweeted, "'Joker' Movie will now release in India on Wednesday, October 2nd, two days ahead of its initial scheduled release," The mid-week release makes sense for Indian Box Office since it is a national holiday and all other releases in the week will also release on the same day."

Though exciting, the news had gotten fans in a bundle, since the acclaimed film 'Joker' will now clash with another anticipated commercial release, 'WAR'. The Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer has created quite the buzz over the past few weeks. Hrithik Roshan released a new poster today and also announced pre-booking will begin on 27th September. Amitabh Bachchan's Telugu action film 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy' will be the third film releasing on the same.

Coming back to 'Joker' the film, directed by Todd Phillips, is a new take on the classic comic book character. Known as Batman's archnemesis, the film will bring light to a new side of the character. 'Joker' will follow the story of stand-up comedian called Arthur Fleck whose mental health declines, leading him to a life of a criminal. It also stars Robert De Niro, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.

'Joker' earlier received an eight-minute standing ovation at its Venice Film Festival premiere for the origin story. The film also received the Golden Lion.
