A delegation of top film producers flew to Delhi to meet the Minister Of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) Arun Jaitley to apprise him of the problems the industry faced, such as the service tax. The meeting went very well, but the Minister apparently made it very clear to the producers’ delegation that there would be no interference from the I & B Ministry in the day-to-day running of the Censor Board and other government organisations. Says the source,

“Rajyvardhan Rathore (MoS - I&B) and Pahlaj Nihalani (Chair, Central Board Of Film Certification) are connected regarding the working of the CBFC. For the day-to-day, film-to-film certification, the Ministry lets Pahlaj decide.”

Other developments
Plans are afoot to change the current system of certification from alphabetical (‘U’, ‘UA’, etc) to numerical (age groups) and also to speed up the process of certification for those producers who need their films certified out of queue.
